Xiaomi thinks about installing a pentacamera in a folding smartphone

A modern smartphone is a frameless smartphone. Today it is considered to be bad manners to produce mobile phones, displays of which have decent frames around the perimeter. In this situation, one of the main obstacles to completely "roll out" the screen, it becomes necessary to solve the issue with the location of the selfie camera.

One way is to integrate the camera into the drawer. Xiaomi plans to take the same path in the case of the future folding smartphone. The other day, the company registered a patent for a foldable smartphone with a pop-up camera in the Chinese Intellectual Property Office.

Patent documentation contains a sketch of a folding mobile phone with a flexible matrix on the outside and a sliding block for five camera modules. It is obvious that, according to the idea, the retractable camera will not only solve the problem of implementing a flexible display without any cutouts and holes, but will also allow you to create both ordinary pictures and self-portraits.

And Xiaomi will continue to go along the path of increasing the number of cameras in devices. True, do not forget that this is only a patent and there is no certainty that in the future it will find its commercial embodiment. It is possible that these are just fantasies that are not destined to find their embodiment in a commercial device.
