Introduced by Huawei Mate Xs: More Powerful, Faster, More Reliable, and More Costly
Exactly one year ago, at MWC 2019, Huawei became the main troublemaker, and its presentation was one of the most interesting at the exhibition. And all thanks to the folding smartphone Huawei Mate X. A year has passed, and the story repeats.
Today, the announcement of Huawei Mate Xs, an improved version of the company's first device with a flexible display, took place. True, this time there were no crowds of people, the release was in the mode of videoconference.
Huawei again did not announce the exact start date for sales of the new smartphone, but with a price for it, it was already determined – 2499 euros.
If we talk about the differences between the new items from the Mate X, then they touched the display, articulated mechanism, hardware platform and cameras. The smartphone received a flexible 8-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2480×2220 pixels, which this time is protected by a two-layer polyamide film and it is 80% stronger than a single-layer one. The company claims that the use of such a coating can increase the overall resistance of the screen without sacrificing brightness and color saturation.
This time, the smartphone runs on the Kirin 990 5G chipset, has 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB of constant memory. We also paid attention to improving the reliability and durability of the hinges of the hinge mechanism. The manufacturer claims that for their manufacture a liquid alloy based on zirconium was used to increase strength.
As usual, there is no front camera and its functions were delegated to the main one with four image sensors: 40 megapixels (f / 1.8) + 16 megapixels (wide-angle, f / 2.2) + 8 megapixels (telephoto lens, f / 2.4, 3x optical zoom) + ToF.
Huawei Mate Xs has a slot for two SIM cards, a 4500 mAh battery with 55 W SuperCharge fast charging, a proprietary EMUI 10.0.1 shell based on Android 10. Google services are not here, so the smartphone completely relies on the App Gallery and HMS brand store.
