Apple recognizes the problem and repairs Apple Watch Series 2 and Series 3 for free
On August 30, Apple announced a free screen replacement program for the cracked display Apple Watch Series 2 and Series 3 models. The program extends to models in aluminum cases, for which, for no apparent reason, cracks formed along the rounded edge of the screen. According to Apple, this phenomenon is not widespread and appears "in very rare circumstances."
"Very rare circumstances" happen often
Many owners of the Apple Watch Series 2 and Series 3 who have encountered this problem say that there was no reason that could damage the screen. Apple said they were aware of a defect causing a crack along the rounded edge of the screen that spreads around the display over time. Recognizing this fact, the company refused to give a reason for the breakdown of the displays, but they are ready to replace damaged products for free.
All Apple Watch models have problems.
In 2017, the company extended the warranty period for the Apple Watch Series 1 for a full two years after some of these devices suffered from swollen battery syndrome. Last year, Apple said it would replace the bloated batteries found in the Apple Watch Series 2 for free. A class action lawsuit claimed that all Apple Watch models, including the current Series 4 watches, contain a defect causing the battery to swell. This, according to the plaintiffs, leads to the fact that cracks appear on the display of the device, which, in turn, is a potential threat of cuts and burns.
Apple Watch is the most successful product
The Apple Watch is a huge success and is the best-selling smartwatch in the world. The company's financial report, covering the period from April to June, noted that the unit responsible for the production and marketing of Apple Watch and AirPods wireless Bluetooth was the most successful in the structure of Apple. Thanks to this division, the company's revenue grew by 48.3% (to $ 5.53 billion) compared with the reporting period last year.
On September 10, Apple will hold its next event for the presentation of new products, which is expected to present the 2019 iPhone models. At the same event, they should show the next iteration of the Apple Watch. It is expected that the Series 5 design will undergo minor changes compared to the Series 4 model, and that the upcoming smart watches will be housed in titanium and ceramic cases of 40 and 44 mm in size, respectively.
