There is a record: a 108 megapixel Samsung ISOCELL Bright HMX sensor is presented
Last week, Xiaomi announced that the upcoming Redmi smartphone will receive a 64 megapixel camera. At the end of the press event, information was heard that in one of the upcoming devices they will install a 108 megapixel sensor from Samsung, which will allow you to get pictures with a resolution of 12032×9024 pixels. And today, the South Korean giant introduced a sensor with a record resolution.
Samsung ISOCELL Bright HMX is the industry's first 108MP image sensor. The sensor format is 1 / 1.33ʺ, which allows it to absorb more light in poor ambient light conditions.
As in other high-resolution sensors, the bet is on Tetracell technology for combining 4 neighboring pixels into one, and this in turn allows you to get a brighter and higher-quality picture. As a result, the resolution of the final photos looks more modest than the declared ones – 27 megapixels.
In addition, the claimed use of Smart ISO – a mechanism for automatically selecting the level of photosensitivity based on the conditions of external lighting. ISOCELL Bright HMX also supports video recording up to 6K (6016×3084) at a speed of 30 frames per second.
It is stated that Samsung and Xiaomi worked closely together, from the time of design until the launch of the sensor. Mass production of the sensor starts at the end of this month and there is no exact data yet which smartphone will receive it first.
According to rumors, the pioneer should be Xiaomi Mi Mix 4.
