Samsung “burned” with the markup points in the benchmark 6 years ago. Reckoning has come just now
This story began six years ago, in 2013, when the AnandTech resource suspected that something was wrong with the Samsung Galaxy S4. Masters from the popular publication then found out that the new flagship has special algorithms that accelerate the processor and video accelerator in benchmarks.
The technique is not new: when the test was launched, the Snapdragon 600 processor and the PowerVR SGX 544 MP3 graphics accelerator started working at full power, increasing the frequency to 533 MHz. As a result, in the benchmark, the smartphone produced excellent results.
But then, when the tests were completed, the frequency of the hardware platform dropped to the usual value of 480 MHz, so that the mobile phone does not eat battery life and does not overheat.
AnandTech research prompted some users to sue to defend their rights, and they accused the company of not informing them of such smartphone behavior. Accordingly, Samsung manipulated and misled consumers regarding the real performance of the Galaxy S4.
And now, six years after the start of the lawsuit, the dispute is settled. Samsung has agreed to pay $ 10 to everyone who once purchased the Galaxy S4.
It is reported that the total amount of all payments should be $ 13.4 million. Soon, Samsung should send a letter of happiness to the former owners of the Galaxy S4 stating that they are entitled to $ 10 as compensation for damage.
