Analysts: Huawei continues to increase its share of the smartphone market
According to Strategy Analytics, in the third calendar quarter of 2019, the share of shipments of Samsung smartphones in the world market grew to 21.3% from 20.1% recorded for the same period last year. In total, the South Korean giant managed to ship 78.2 million pipes to the market, compared to 72.3 million a year earlier.
Strategy Analytics experts agree with Canalys’s colleagues that Huawei managed to take the second place in the ranking of the largest smartphone makers, increasing the supply of their mobile phones by 29%. Now the Chinese company controls 18.2% of the smartphone market, while a year earlier this figure was at 14.4%. In quantitative terms, shipments of mobile devices by Huawei amounted to 66.7 million units.
But Apple is gradually losing its market share and iPhone shipments sank 3% in the third quarter of this year, amounting to 45.6 million devices. Now the concern's share in the smartphone market is 12.4%; then a year earlier this indicator was at 13%.
Xiaomi came in fourth place, with a share of 8.8% and 32.3 million delivered mobile devices in its assets. The company experienced a slight decline and supplies dipped by 2% compared to the same period last year.
Oppo closes the top five largest smartphone manufacturers with a result of 29.4 million shipped mobile phones, and it occupies 8% of the mobile phone market.
For the third quarter of 2019, the total global supply of mobile devices amounted to 366.3 million. For comparison, in the third quarter of last year, manufacturers managed to ship 359.9 million tubes to the market.
